As the sun comes up in Aspen, Colorado, I sit alone and watch the mountains begin to glow bright orange. The wind stills, and the lake becomes a mirror reflecting the beautiful sunrise. A few minutes later, I spot a moose making its way along the path, and I relinquish my spot to him.

The Devils Heavens-
As the sun light fades into night, I am waiting for my moment. Others are all heading back to the parking lot to get some sleep, but with the Milky Way scheduled to make an appearance, I can’t really relax. I’m jealous of them after a long day of driving. The tall grass around my feet is damp and causes the air to feel quite chilly. As the last bit of glow from the sun gives way to star light, I am shooting away enjoying the view.

After a cloudy morning in Las Vegas, I decide to check out Valley of Fire State Park with my significant other. Hiking around in the red rocks was a lot of fun. We got to hang out with some other photographers and talk about our adventures. I walked around all over getting fun shots at different angles. As the clouds break up, the sun beamed on the red rocks setting them on fire, and now we know how the park got its name!

I’m dreaming of a time that was not so stationary. A time more fluid like the halls of stone that are Antelope Canyon: frozen in place but constantly moving and changing. In my life, I have become more like those walls: seemingly still until the sun shines in with love and warmth. Then, I come alive, glowing and showing all my intricate details.

Twisted-
After a long day in the fiery hot sun, the cool twilight air is a welcomed relief. For a few minutes the clouds are magically illuminated a glowing pink against a deep blue sky. Night is coming, but the sun is putting on a show as it fights the moon for a few extra moments to shine.

We tend to avoid winter, hiding inside under the covers like sleeping bears, but winter can be beautiful! It changes places we are used to seeing into extreme versions of themselves. This winter white adds texture and drama that only these conditions can provide. Winter isn’t quite over, so try to find your lighthouse during the season that will carry you to spring!

In Zion National Park, you are rarely alone anywhere. As one of the busiest parks, Zion is hustle and bustle 24 hours a day. After setting up for sunset as spectators and other photographers pack up and head back for the night, I’m out there in the dark waiting. I’m normally one of the last photographers, if not the last one, to leave a scene. I’m just not ready to give up on it: trying to see if it changes or I can get more out of it. Zion is definitely an amazing place where you can explore so much and enjoy many different and beautiful views. Photographing at night can have its challenges, but so often you are rewarded with amazing views and images as a result. Coming from a large city and not being able to see the stars at night makes capturing these images in some of the most beautiful locations in the country (and the world) that much more special for me.

Zion is beautiful year round! I love to explore the different seasons. Everything looks different: the colors are different and the light feels different too. Winter can make a normal landscape look alien. It’s one of my favorite things about this season.
