Bad Salt

My first morning in Death Valley was at Badwater Basin. After about a mile walk out onto the salt flat, you are surrounded in a sea of white salt crystals. Deceivingly familiar, at first it looks like a frozen lake. In the cold wind, it sure felt like it too. As the sun started to rise behind the mountains, the scene began to glow a soft blue. These beautiful tones sweep across the basin in the predawn light, preparing it for sunrise.
